Lisamarie LaManna
05/21/2006
|
Freshman Shannon Browne of Curtis took the distance double, winning the 3,000 in 11:29.0 and later the 1,500 in 5:18.1 at the SIPSAL Championships.
Browne, a big kicker, was pressed to the tape in the 1,500 by junior Lisamarie LaManna of Susan Wagner, who made a big breakthrough, running 5:18.5.
Lisamarie left the field early with a very fast pace through the first 800 meters. Shannon closed to dead even on the final lap. LaManna showed she was for real and a force to be reckoned in the future as she kicked down the final straight with Shannon Browne.
We salute Lisamarie as our BreakThru Athlete of the Week!
