Deanna Morelli, the all-American pentathlete out of McKee/S.I. Tech, has decided to attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

A trip to Nashville two weeks ago helped make up her mind.

Denna Morelli is one of Staten Island's greatest all-around female athletes. The MSIT senior earned All-American status by way of a sixth-place finish in the indoor pentathlon, where she set an Island record of 2,990 points. She added four Island championship titles, four SI PSAL titles, four city PSAL titles to her resume, and placed sixth in the discus at the Penn Relays. She also placed second in the outdoor state championship meet in both the shot put and discus. She won four Mayor's Cup titles, and placed fifth in the shot put at the indoor New York State meet. She's among the Island's best all-time in the shot put, the discus, and holds the Island record in the indoor pentathlon.
