Craig Forys

The distance medley relay at the Colts Neck Relays promised to be a fast one on Saturday. Colts Neck's Craig Forys was bidding to become the first New Jersey high schooler to go under three minutes for 1,200 meters at the meet, and he had the help of reigning Pennsylvania outdoor mile champion Paul Springer of Unionville in his attempt.
Forys' attempt at a sub-3:00 1,200 meters, he covered the first 400 in 1:00.6 and hit 800 at 2:02.24 before handing the baton off at 3:04.2. Springer actually pulled ahead of Forys on the final backstretch and gave his baton off in 3:02.7.
The backstretch of the Colts Neck High School track gave athletes problems throughout the day as it caused the runners to go into a strong head wind. Forys was no different.
We salute Craig for his efforts at the BreakThru Athlete of the Week!
