Walter Henning Jr.(St. Anthony’s, South Huntington NY) had the odd distinction of concluding a portion of his already-legendary career. He was throwing a particular implement, the 25-pound weight, for the final time. (In college, the size goes up.) Walter made the most of it, throwing 86-5 ½ on his third throw to break the national record he set in this same cage last month at the Eastern States. That one was 86-3 ¾. His series was 83-10, foul, 86-5 ½, 82-10 ½, 84-6, foul.
