Saratoga Springs junior Hannah Davidson won the Girls' Eastern States race Saturday at the 34th annual Manhattan Invitational, but the Blue Streaks failed to win the team title for the first time since 1999.

Davidson did what she could to lift Saratoga Springs and the Northeast. She led wire-to-wire and finished in 14:14.65, defeating Ashley Higginson of Colts Neck (N.J.), who finished in 14:15.99, and Shelby Greany of Suffern, who finished in 14:17.95. Davidson came out hard the first mile and nearly paid the price as her 15-second lead evaporated in the final 400 meters.
