Curtis High School's Keith Stapleton and Co. took advantage yesterday of the absence of the top two runners from Collegiate -- New York State's No. 1 ranked team and the defending champions --and captured double gold in the Mayor's Cup Cross Country Championships, held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

Stapleton easily took the championship 2.5-mile race in a meet record time of 12 minutes, 50.1 seconds
